Horizontal Siding
Continuous horizontal lines that make a house read as wider and calmer. The most common treatment for the main walls, and the one most exteriors are built around.
Lap profiles that run horizontally across the wall, in a range of exposures and surface textures.
Where it is used
Main Wall
The largest continuous wall surfaces. What the house reads as from the street.
Gable
The triangular wall under the roof peak. Often given a different material from the wall below it.
Accent
A smaller area treated differently on purpose — a dormer, an entry, a band across one section.
